Description of Grant:
Following this announcement is the application outline for the 2006-08 IFO Feminist Issues Grant. Please consider applying for this two-year Grant of up to three thousand dollars, designed to promote research, projects, or creative works that contribute to the advancement of women in the IFO and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU). This request for FI Grant proposals intentionally is an open call in order to encourage the widest range of possibilities in the application process. Past recipients’ projects include a Survey on faculty attitudes about the promotion and tenure process as it affects women faculty; a Workshop on educating faculty women about the union and the advantages of membership; a Short Film about MnSCU faculty and gender politics; and a Faculty Learning Community through the MSUM Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning on “Talking About Teaching and Feminist Issues.” Applicants must specify the amount of funding requested up to a maximum of $3,000. The amount of funding awarded will be commensurate with the applicant’s proposed expenses.
The award is made possible by funding from the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) through the statewide Feminist Issues Committee (FIC). Accordingly, only IFO members are eligible to apply for this grant.
The grant period extends from May 2006 to March 2008. The successful grant recipient is expected to share his/her results and/or experiences in writing or in another appropriate forum on individual campuses or with the system-wide IFO membership. A final written report or oral presentation will be due by the March 2008 Delegate Assembly. If an oral presentation at the 2008 Delegate Assembly is agreed upon between the recipient and the FIC, the committee will provide mileage reimbursement, overnight lodging and meals for travel to the Delegate Assembly.
Selection Criteria:
Member(s) of IFO;
Relevance of the project or activity to women in the IFO or MnSCU at large;
Overall clarity and feasibility of proposal;
Appropriateness of means, timeline, and planned expenses;

Demonstrated commitment to feminist issues.
