Description of Grant:
Following this announcement is the application outline for the 2008-2010 IFO Feminist Issues Grant. Please consider applying for this two-year Grant of up to five thousand dollars, designed to promote research, projects, or creative works that contribute to the advancement of women in the IFO and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU). This request for FI Grant proposals intentionally is an open call in order to encourage the widest range of possibilities in the application process. Past recipients’ projects include a Survey on faculty attitudes about the promotion and tenure process as it affects women faculty; a Workshop on educating faculty women about the union and the advantages of membership; a Lecture Series on women’s health issues; and a Faculty Learning Community through the Minnesota State University Mankato Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning on “Talking About Teaching and Feminist Issues.” Applicants must specify the amount of funding requested up to a maximum of $5,000. The amount of funding awarded will be commensurate with the applicant’s proposed expenses.
The award is made possible by funding from the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) through the statewide Feminist Issues Committee (FIC). Accordingly, only IFO members are eligible to apply for this grant.
The grant period extends from May 2008 to March 2010. The successful grant recipient is expected to share his/her results and/or experiences in writing and if agreed upon in another appropriate forum on individual campuses or with the system-wide IFO membership. A final written report will be due by the March 2010 Delegate Assembly. If an oral presentation at the 2010 Delegate Assembly is agreed upon between the recipient and the FIC, the committee will provide mileage reimbursement, overnight lodging and meals for travel to the Delegate Assembly.
Selection Criteria:
Member(s) of IFO;
Relevance of the project or activity to women and feminist issues in the IFO or MnSCU at large;
Overall clarity and feasibility of proposal;
Appropriateness of means, timeline, and planned expenses;
Plan for sharing project or activity results with a significant portion of MnSCU/IFO members.
Review Process:
Applications for the 2008-2010 Award are to be received no later than February 4, 2008. Applications may be submitted by mail or by email. The statewide FIC will conduct a blind review of all applications and will forward its recommendation to the IFO Board of Directors for approval on or before the April 24-25, 2008 meeting. Review of all applications remains confidential information of the FIC and the IFO Board. The 2008-2010 Award recipient will be notified on or before April 30, 2008.
