IFO Statement on NY Times Article Featuring Racist Activities in St. Cloud

The Inter Faculty Organization is committed to defending all members of our campus communities from racist, sexist, nationalist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-Muslim, and anti-Semitic attacks. We are dismayed that a former faculty member from one of our universities was featured in a New York Times article that laid out his and other efforts in St. Cloud to dehumanize marginalized members of our community. The denigration of immigrants is unacceptable in a democratic society, and especially on our university campuses.

As faculty and members of university communities, we uphold the values of equity and inclusion and advocate for people of color and immigrant community members, who make our institutions and our union stronger. We are proud to be involved in this important work and condemn hate speech and hate crimes in our communities.
