Following the tentative agreement on the 2025-2027 contract reached between the IFO negotiating team and Minnesota State, the IFO Board of Directors voted to recommend approval of the contract settlement to the membership.

Each campus will schedule at least 2 informational meetings between October 7 and October 17; your local Faculty Association will provide details about information sessions on your campus.
Voting
Voting on the new contract will take place electronically October 21-27.
Information on how to vote will be provided as the voting period approaches. If you are not yet a member of the IFO, you will be able to vote on the contract settlement if you join the union by 4:00 p.m. October 17. More information about membership can be found here.
Contract Settlement Highlights
1.4% increase in salary for FY2026, with retroactive pay to the beginning of fall semester.
A one step increase for faculty who return in FY2027 (a 2.4% increase in salary).
Adjunct/community faculty per credit rate will increase by 1.4% for FY2026 to $1,844 per credit, with retroactive pay to the beginning of fall semester.
Adjunct/community faculty per credit rate will increase by 2.4% for FY2027 to $1,888 per credit.
Meal reimbursement rates for Professional Development, Professional Improvement, and grant funds increase to 1.5 times the State Managerial Plan rates.
Paid Parental Leave increases to 7 weeks (35 duty days).
Changes in the process for claiming vacant positions for retrenched faculty with claiming rights; faculty will no longer need to select academic areas for claiming and will receive electronic notices of all faculty vacancies in the state university system.
Improvements in options provided to retrenched faculty with 20+ years to include enhanced benefits for faculty who separate early.
Summary report will be defined in the new contract as a brief, written statement that summarizes progress in achieving objectives specified in the PDP and will replace the oral report to the dean in year 1 of a 2-year plan for tenured faculty below the rank of full Professor.
Improvements in office hours requirements; “office” hours changed to “student support” hours. Faculty availability will be provided in syllabi and the requirement to post at your office will be eliminated.
No increases to deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, or out-of-pocket maximums for health insurance.
Health insurance premium for single medical coverage to increase by $7.12 per month; the new rate will be $48.96 per month starting January 1, 2026.
Health insurance premium for family medical coverage to increase by $48.54 per month; the new rate will be $333.96 per month starting January 1, 2026.
Dental insurance premium for single coverage to increase by $0.70 / month; the new rate will be $14.50 / month beginning January 1, 2026.
Dental insurance premium for family coverage to increase by $2.96 / month; the new rate will be $61.86 / month beginning January 1, 2026.
New Optional Legal Services Coverage available for the 2026 plan year at a rate of $16.16 / month for family coverage.
