The Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) is offering virtual one-hour workshops and 30-minute individual consultations from September 8-October 1 to help you navigate your retirement options. The sessions and workshops will be led by Dick Kaspari, IFO Legal and Benefits Representative.
Individual Consultations:
· 30-minute 1-on-1 consultations available 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

· Faculty Nearing Retirement: 12 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and alternating Wednesdays/Thursdays.
· New & Newly Tenured Faculty: 1 workshop held weekly at 12 p.m. on alternating Wednesdays/Thursdays (9/9, 9/17, 9/23, 10/1).

1. Workshop for Faculty Considering Retirement
This session covers contractual and statutory provisions to help you maximize your retirement, including:
Key Benefits & Programs: Final year two-step increase, Early Separation Incentive, severance pay, Phased Retirement, and the Annuitant Employment Program.
Healthcare & Savings: Retiree healthcare, the post-retirement tax-free Healthcare Savings Plan, and tax-sheltering options.
Pensions & Public Benefits: TRA annuity and annuity acceleration options, maximizing contractual benefits, Social Security, and Medicare.
Practical Resources Provided: Important notification dates, sample letters for declaring retirement and applying for benefits, a retirement planning checklist, and contact lists for key resources.
2. Workshop for New & Newly Tenured Faculty
This session helps newer faculty navigate Minnesota State’s retirement options early in their careers, including:
Primary Pension Choice: Guidance on choosing between IRAP and TRA.
Additional Plan Options: The Supplemental Retirement Plan and voluntary retirement savings options.
Healthcare Savings: Overview of the post-separation Healthcare Savings Plan.
These retirement workshops and consultations are offered free as a benefit for all faculty members.
