2026 General Election Voting Info

Minnesota general election ballots are available starting Friday, September 18. Below are more relevant dates and information for voting in the 2026 general election.

GENERAL ELECTION DATES:

  • Ballots available for in-person and mail voting: Friday, September 18

  • Start of Early Voting: Friday, October 16 

    • "Early Voting" will be available for the first time in 2026 and starts 18 days before the election. Every county will have at least one location offering early voting.

  • Last day to vote early in person: Monday, November 2

  • Ballots must be received by Tuesday, November 3.

  • Election day: Tuesday, November 3

CAN I SHARE INFORMATION WITH MY STUDENTS?

  • YES! You are encouraged to share information about the voting process with your students. You may also invite a guest speaker into your class to present information to students about how to vote. 

  • Faculty CANNOT encourage students to vote for a particular candidate, issue, or other activities that could be deemed partisan. It is also against state law to send partisan election-related information or materials via your “.edu” email address.
